Copyright question: Using a phrase from a game in a book?
I am considering writing a novel in my spare time, and there is a quote from a video game that is several years old that I would like to use.
It is a phrase that is used at the beginning of the game. I am wondering if it is safe to use this phrase in a book.
I’ve seen a few people using it in poetry online and in their blogs and other personal online works of fiction. Is there a difference between that and a hard copy book?
I’ve done it before. I never got sued so I guess it is okay. But, if you ever get it published I would check before you do.
