Fuuny! that the first answer said to go to www. poetry.com to check if the site was legit. considering that the contest I was contemplating entering was a contest from www. poetry.com. So I guess my question is “Is a free poetry contest from www.poetry.com a legitimate contest? or is it phony?
You should try winningwriters.com, they have a free list of free contests. If you are looking to publish and not so interested in winning, then you might try duotrope.com for a comprehensive list of publishers.
Stay away from poetry.com, it’s a scam that takes advantage of newbies and those who desperately need external validation at any cost.
