Is rap truly music? why does modern music suck?
the definition of music is: an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color. by that standard rap is missing 2, possibly 3 of the key ingredients of being considered music. i am not saying all rap sucks and takes no talent. i am saying that rap is a form of poetry with beat and rhythm and shouldn’t be held in the position with rock, jazz, blues, etc. I am not an advocate for “rock” as it may seem, but i am an advocate for good music and today’s state of music is horrible. so what i am asking is this- is rap music or catchy poetry and why does modern music pale in comparison to other decades? i dont want you to defend your opinion on how rap is god, i want you to justify
All of todays rap is annoying & just drags-same heavy beat & sounds/clicks/words that repeat over & over & I hate it!!!!(back in the 80′s/my teen yrs, rap was ok)-some of it had great melody to it & it brings back memories from jr. high when I’d see the “breakdancers” in the halls.
