Photography: approaching strangers to take a shot there and then. What shall I say?
I love doing portraits of people and I always see really photogenic-like or just really interesting people when I’m out in Exeter, it has a alot of varying cultures and “alternative” type like people much like myself. I want to start approaching people to ask if I can take a quick portrait shot of them. The aim is purely to improve my skills, how do I ask people this?
Is there anything else I should be aware of? Do I need to make sure they are over 18?

You do not need permission to take pictures of people in public places be they adults or children.
Neither do you need permission to publish those shots.
Often shots are better when people are unaware they are being photographed but if you want to get them to “pose” then just approach them in a polite and friendly manner and explain what you want and what it is for.
They can only say no and if they do thank them and apologise for disturbing them.
