What is the difference between homeschooling and unschooling? ?

I have a question. What is the difference bewtween homeschooling, unschooling &? I have been homeschooling our son for 3 consecutive years, and I've never heard of this so far today. See what we do is get the school thats reguired for him to learn, then let him choose the property, he wants to learn, as photography, drawing comics, CE and home. I was just curious is all, my husband and I are confused, we just never heard of unschooling before until now. Thank you for your help guys. Please no rude comments about homescholing our children either! Is our choice, and some children Arnt meant for public or private schooling. Thus, any crude comments will be reported and ignored. My son has been public school too, and hated and we wernt happy with the teachers, lack of education too!

Hello, I'm an "old combatant "Homeschool (15 years) and our school. We started as a "relaxed homeschoolers (where you do not spend large blocks of time, like school and you are a little more relaxed about everything), and the children were older (into the teens), we started the transition to unschooling. Unschooling learner driven and based on the interests of education. It can have different meanings for many people, but basically you trust your children to learn what they want to learn and when. I thought that when they were 12-13 years they had the skills to continue their education with input from me when they asked for it. We have three children who are "Graduated" from our unschool and now runs a very productive life. All are highly educated, well-balanced people who are pursuing their interests and (hopefully) are life-long learners, which is what I had hoped to achieve. Unschooling does not in school. This is philosophy, learning style, and a great way to live and learn with your children! Many people think that sounds "irresponsible", but She is taking your children responsible for their own education, to guide you when needed. You'd be surprised how well it works! Children actually keep what they have learned, too, and they are not fed a lot of guts just because it is taught in public school. My children know mathematics, science, English, grammar, history, and lots of fun things inbetween. Each child has his own interests, but they often overlap. And the children have continued to plunge in all sorts of interesting things, because they grew up. All have a job, you're married, we present local, and there is still a teenager (16) and has two more years to complete for the state, but it is fun. Hope this helps! If you have specific questions, then please do not hesitate to send me an email! Lori
