What are good photography colleges?
That…
-in one of the following….California (San Francisco area?), New England area (meh), Michigan, Illinois.
- would accept a 3.2 student with only two years of a language (only one of which was in high school)
I’m being picky but I dont want to make any mistakes.
well- this is in michigan. Cranbrook is supposed to be an excellent school. I hear it’s geared more towards the fine art photographer though and not anything commercial. So it depends on what you want to study.
I went to Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus Ohio. I know it’s not one of the states you mentioned but it is near Michigan! It’s a great 4 year school. They don’t look at language credits at all or SAT scores. They will except anyone with at least a 2.0 or higher. Sounds like a school for losers right? BUT they try to get you to drop out the first year. The school is TOUGH. They give anyone a chance. People who may suck in traditional school but possess the talent for making art go far in this school. When I started there were probably 200 in my class… when I graduated there were 10. If that tells you anything. It’s an all art all the time kind of place.
I’m not familiar with Cali so forgive me if this is no where near San Fran, but there is a school called Brooks in Santa Barbara. It’s primarily focused on commercial or ad photog. I’ve heard great things about that place and contemplated going there for grad school.
